Artist-in-residence Lise Davidsen comes straight to the Grieg Hall from the Wigmore Hall in London for the second of her recitals with pianist James Baillieu.
Lise extends her offering of Nordic songs from November with more works by Grieg and Sibelius and a selection of songs by Richard Strauss.
Even more tantalizingly, here Lise moves into the operatic repertoire with which she is making her name on the world stage. We hear excerpts from operas she has recently sung in Zurich and Oslo, including 'Voi lo sapete' from Cavalleria Rusticana, a heartfelt confession from the central character Santuzza, and the moving soliloquy from Der Freischütz's Agatha, 'Wie nahte mir der schlummer...'.
The singer noted for her Wagnerian potential ends with Elisabeth's signature aria from Wagner's opera Tannhäuser.
Presented in collaboration with Bergen National Opera
«She shows ... with a phenomenal, dramatic voice how she can sing such a difficult aria. She took the public immediately», Plácido Domingo about Lise Davidsen
