Oslo Opera Festival: Excerpts from The Rake's Progress

The opera composed by Igor Stravinsky from 1947 to 1951 premiered on September 11, 1951 in Venice. The libretto is inspired by the photo series A Rake´s progress by William Hogarth, and is based on archetypes - something that appears in the names of the characters. In our version, the plot is set in the 70s, when Norway experienced mass emigration to America.
The performance begins with a short lecture and introduction to the work by Wolfgang Plagge.
