Short & classical: Nikolaj Szeps-Znaider conducts Dvořák

Nikolaj Szeps-Znaider conducts Antonín Dvořák’s Symphony No. 7, a darker and more dramatic work than his Sixth.

Programme:
Dvořák: Symphony No. 7

Antonín Dvořák (1841–1904) became immensely popular in England during the 1880s, and in 1884 the Royal Philharmonic Society commissioned a new symphony, which was premiered in London the following year. Symphony No. 7 is darker and more dramatic than the composer’s Sixth Symphony, and the music bears traces of inspiration from both Czech folk music and the symphonies of his friend Johannes Brahms.

Nikolaj Szeps-Znaider, conductor

Duration approx. 1 hour, including a concert introduction from the stage. No interval.
