Oslo World: Cory Henry
Intimate meeting with a modern keyboard master.
Cory Henry has one of the most remarkable careers in the world of 21st century jazz and beyond. Emerging on the stage with the seminal band Snarky Puppy in the mid 2000s, he was recognized for his sophistication on all kinds of keyboards, his deep sense of groove and the sheer joy he finds in the act of music making. Growing up in Brooklyn, he mastered the organ at an early age, making his debut at the Apollo Theater at the age of six.
He garnered three Grammy Awards with Snarky Puppy before moving on to an illustrious solo career as a composer, producer and multi-instrumentalist. His countless collaborations include artists such as Vulfpeck, Kanye West, Frank Ocean, Rosalía and Imagine Dragons. In 2021, his album Something to Say was nominated at the 2022 Grammy Awards for Best Progressive R&B Album, and he was nominated as a producer on Eric Bellinger’s New Light. Several nominations and awards have followed, including a Grammy nomination for Best Alternative Jazz Album for Live at the Piano in 2024. Here we meet Cory Henry in the most intimate of surroundings, by himself at the piano. He has never done this in Europe before - until now. This fall, during Oslo World, we get to encounter with one of the modern keyboard masters, all by himself.
