In the performance Moeder, the Belgian dance company Peeping Toms explores memories as a collectively woven patchwork or mosaic. The performance relates to the memories' storage - all the combinations of events that define who we are, not as a museum, but as a laboratory where we may research the past like an archaeologist.
And who, of all the characters, is the mother? Is she even there? Or are the dancers in her absence trying to conjure her up through motion, sound, dance and both articulated and non-articulated speech? Far from being a main character, she floats in the air above a sea of indecisiveness.
Moeder is the second part of a trilogy, which started with the performance Vader. The third part, Kinderen, will premier in 2018.
