Pilgrim lunch: From Santiago de Compostela to Nidaros
Welcome to an extraordinary lunch experience during the Trondheim Food Festival 2025– where taste, history and community meet at the long table in the park along the Nidelven River.
In collaboration with Nidaros Pilegrimsgård, we invite you to a unique and sensual journey along Europe's most important pilgrimage route – from Santiago de Compostela, via Rome and Jerusalem, to Nidaros. This is a journey in food and culture, served as a multi-course lunch at the pilgrim's final destination.
Starting from places along the route, Reneé Fagerhøi and Thomas Borgan take you on a culinary journey.
Dish by dish, they are inspired by local traditions, ingredients and cooking techniques from the pilgrims' destinations – and allow them to encounter Trøndelag ingredients and communication. Here, Southern European impulses are combined with Nordic roots, before it all lands in Nidaros and the celebration of the food festival's 20th anniversary.
Throughout the meal, Nidaros Pilegrimsgård conveys the story of the pilgrims who brought ideas, herbs, flavors and thoughts between the south and the north.
You will be taken through a thousand years of cultural exchange and community - accompanied by musical performances and lively storytelling. It all takes place where the pilgrims finally arrived: at Nidaros Cathedral, in the heart of Trondheim.
Practical information:
Any allergies must be reported in advance. Unfortunately, we are unable to arrange a vegan menu or low FODMAP at this event.
