Welcome to our PRAXIS workshops spring 2026 for performing artists, people with movement experience, and everyone interested in movements. All bodies are welcome and most of the explorations and exercises lend themselves to be adapted to different bodies and needs. PRAXIS with Šárka Benedová - TALKING BODIES

About the workshop: We will start slowly. Tuning into our bodies, finding our voice, finding shared weight and shared voice. Finding a thought and playing with it. In this practice we will research dance as a dynamic dialogue carrier while we blur the line between spoken and danced language. 
In the second half of the workshop, I would like to go one step further and invite the group into the core of my solo research: expanding the dialogue through musical instruments and loopstation, creating layers of movement, sound, and language as a collective experiment. I will bring my saxophone, and I warmly welcome participants who play an instrument and have been curious about integrating it into their dance practice to bring theirs along. This is entirely optional—there is already more than enough to explore with voices and bodies alone.
Bring clothes that you will be comfortable in on the floor and in physical contact with others. Covering knees and elbows might be a good idea.

The workshop will be held in English.

Who can join: The workshop is for dancers and movers with a basic background in contact improvisation, and is open to all abilities. It welcomes anyone who wishes to access their dancing body from the perspective of a communicator and explore how the idea of dance can expand into sound, voice, and musical instruments.

Bio: Šárka Benedová is a dancer and saxophonist based in Oslo, originally from the Czech Republic. Working at the intersection of sound and movement, she creates performance-based and collaborative works that range from stage to site-specific contexts. She co-founded Kunstgrillen, an interdisciplinary ensemble that creates responsive works for and in public space, and performs solo under the experimental saxophone project Swan on a Leash.
