Welcome to PRAXIS Workshop with Ann-Christin Kongsness - Gender Performativity
Sunday 2.11.2025 at 11am-3pm at DansiT, Svartlamon, Strandveien 33, Trondheim.

About the workshop: This workshop is based on Kongsness' experiences and discoveries from her work with the drag king group Gutta and the performance series Butch Tribute. Both projects deal with queer, female masculinity as a frame and a starting point, but in different ways. Through looking closer at these various alternative or marginalized forms of masculinity, we will continue into the idea of gender performativity in general, as Kongsness will share tools and strategies from both choreographic and drag practices.

In this workshop we will be concerned with tracing our sense of identity as performers to be able to expand our artistic possibilities for movement, action and presence. How can questioning expectations we are met with as performers/artists help us question and confront the (unconscious) fulfilling of conventions in our artistic work? What kind of frame do we need to set for ourselves to be able to create and perform the work that we want to create and perform?
All though these strategies are developed from and with a queer perspective, we will make use of them beyond relating to gender and sexuality; to question and make ourselves aware of all kinds of recurring patterns in our work.

This workshop is for everyone with a performative or movement-based practice. All tasks given All tasks given take into account the participants' different movement backgrounds and functional levels, so that everyone can work and explore from their own starting point.
