PRAXIS with Elen Øyen - Dance and diversity
Saturday 18.04.2026 11 AM - 3 PM at DansiT, Strandveien 33, Trd.

About the workshop: How to use a wheelchair creatively in dance:
A wheelchair is often seen as a symbol of something sad. But in reality, a wheelchair is a wonderful tool that makes life easier for people who use it. Both in everyday life and in dance.
In this workshop you will get an insight into how a wheelchair can be used creatively in dance. Elen shows some of the possibilities, and you also get the opportunity to explore the wheelchair and play with it.

S(t)olo: Where in the first session we explore the wheelchair, in the second session we will focus on the "regular", static chair. And how we can use it in dance. What is the difference between a moving wheelchair with wheels that turn, and a static chair with static legs?
Here too you get to explore the chair, dance and play with it!

Text and dance: Elen talks about her experiences with writing and dancing on social media. What comes first, the texts or the dance? What opportunities does dance offer on social media? What limitations?

Who can join: Adults who are curious about dance. People of all body types, with or without disabilities, and with or without a dance background are welcome.
Accessibility: The venue is wheelchair accessible. There is a ramp into the venue. There is also a disabled toilet.
