"I am training and working with the tools and princepls of Countertechnique since 2001.
Countertechnique is a movement system developed to help the dancer think about the dancing body, focusing on the process of incorporating information into action. Dancers are encouraged to be proactive in discovering connections and solutions, to be less concerned with judging themselves to work in a healthy way with regard to the whole self. I very much enjoy the freedom and autonomy the work with the Countertechnique tools gives me in my own practice as dancer and when sharing dance. Over the years I also developed a partnering workshop, that is based on the application of the Countertechnique tools in partnering. Next to that I have spend a lot of time exploring my favorite category in the Countertechnique toolbox, the category Body. Learning about how the human body works and using this information to enrich my movement is such a rewarding exploration. In the classes we will take some time exploring different aspects of the human body through movement explorations, games or partnered exercises. After that we will start to use our own discoveries in the class exercises and work towards a movement combination. Every week we will deepen and continue to build onto the movement combination. I find it challenging, important and also very freeing to work on incorporating information into action and movement not only in free improvised situations, but also in set movement sequences."
