PSTEREO Reminisces: The Lemonheads

The Lemonheads played a memorable and legendary concert at the very first Pstereo festival in 2007 – a performance that is still remembered as a highlight in the festival’s history. Now they return to Trondheim on Monday 1 September for an exclusive concert at Byscenen.

One of the 90s’ most distinctive and influential alternative rock bands, The Lemonheads, are back on the road with The Deep End Tour. Here they perform the entire classic album Come On Feel the Lemonheads from 1993 – with hits like Into Your Arms, It’s About Time and The Great Big No – in addition to favorites like It’s a Shame About Ray, If I Could Talk I’d Tell You, My Drug Buddy and new songs from their upcoming album. 

After several years of sporadic appearances and cover releases, the band will release their first new studio album since 2006 in October. Love Chant was recorded in Brazil and is described by Evan Dando as “psychedelic, heavy – and so quiet”. He is joined by J Mascis (Dinosaur Jr) and Nick Saloman (The Bevis Frond), among others. The result is a mature and melodic comeback, which proves that Dando is still one of rock’s most instinctive songwriters.

The Lemonheads have always balanced the energy of pop-punk with the warmth of folk rock – and with Dando’s distinctive voice and impressive song catalogue behind them, this promises to be an evening for old fans and new listeners alike.
