PSYK // Tronheim Fringe 2024

PSYK is a theater production that deals with psychology in Norwegian welfare culture, and is a commentary on who holds the power to define mentally ill.

Who is psychology in Norway for? Who has advice and offers about it?

Has it as a profession lost its humanity? Have patient and psychologist begun to dehumanize each other?"

How to be a good psychologist if the patient's need is that one does not act as a psychologist, but as a fellow human being?

PSYK is staged as a live therapy class with a real psychologist (who is also an actor) and patients (local actors) who are in all possible back rooms and unusual settings at HAVET.

In this way, the play also explores the limits of what theater is, and what it should be in the future. Can real conversations shared in public spaces make audiences reflect in new ways?
