Ragin Wenk-Wolff - IMAGE IN MY MUSIC

Overview

Manyfold Prize and Award winning Norwegian renaissance artist Ragin's vision has always been one of music steeped in colors and multiple dimensions.  It has now come to fruition in her Gesamtkunstwerk "Image in my Music" at its world premiere at Kilden Performing Arts Center – kilden.com – in Kristiansand, Norway in October 2014, to enthusiastic, standing ovations.  As a concert violinist and consummate visual artist, she has always "seen" the music she performs, in colors, shapes, images, dark, light, solid, ethereal, high, low, near, far, hard and soft etc., and now takes the audience with her inside her inner world while she performs on her Stradivarius from 1689, with video projections on a giant screen behind her and on the floor she stands on.  Her own artwork has been combined with photography by Kai-Wilhelm Nessler and film, which she produced together with Virtual Theater Designer Joachim Schamberger. Image in my Music About RAGIN: Known for her exceptionally expressive playing and beguiling tone, Ragin  (born Ragin Esther Wenk-Wolff)  has appeared in major halls all over Europe and the United States, including debuts in Merkin Hall, New York, the South Bank, London and Galérie Hérouet in Paris, where she simultaneously had an art exhibit.  She has performed violin concertos, including ones written for, dedicated to and premiered by her, by such renowned Norwegian composers as Johan Kvandal, Ragnar Søderlind, Knut Nystedt and more, with all the major orchestras of her home country Norway, as well as orchestras like the Royal Philharmonic in London.   Joachim Schamberger is rapidly gaining a reputation in the United States, Europe and Asia as a fine stage director who blends the convention of opera with a keen sense of realism. He uses his own virtual theater design as well as directs the production.  This project with Ragin is the first he has collaborated on outside of Opera. Kai-Wilhelm Nessler is one of Norway's foremost nature photographers and a multi talented artist and computer expert.     Pianists Vebjørn Anvik/ Tor Espen Aspaas/ Sveinung/ Bjelland:  All three pianists are first rate international soloists and chamber musicians besides teaching at the Norwegian Academy of Music. Image in my Music Pianist Rohan De Silva currently tours widely with violinist Itzhak Perlman. He is a faculty member at the Perlman Music Program on Long Island, The Juilliard School and the Ishikawa Music Academy in Japan. He has performed for Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip at a White House Dinner upon the request of U.S. President George W. Bush and the First Lady Laura Bush.[2] On June 13, 2012, he performed for Israeli president Shimon Peres, again with violinist Itzhak Perlman, at the invitation of President Barack Obama.
