Randi Stene & Bengt Forsberg

Overview

'Darkness and sentimentality are musical qualities that have always appealed to me. Sibelius offers plenty,' says Norway's great mezzo-soprano.
Randi Stene has juxtaposed Sibelius with works by Grieg, Rachmaninov and Korngold in what she refers to as a dream programme.
'The repertoire in this concert reflects me where I am now. It is a programme in which I can use the experience I have acquired,' says Randi Stene, who made her international breakthrough at the Châtelet Opera in Paris in 1993.
Randi Stene, mezzo-soprano, who has appeared at the Bergen International Festival several times, is a professor at the Norwegian Academy of Music, and has long been a member of the Royal Danish Opera soloist ensemble. Her repertoire encompasses classical mezzo roles and newly-written works, and as a concert soloist she has appeared at the Salzburg Festival and Edinburgh Festival.
In Håkonshallen she is accompanied by pianist Bengt Forsberg, who has collaborated for many years with the renowned Swedish mezzo-soprano Anne Sofie von Otter.
