On Saturday, February 22nd between 12 and 2 pm, before the wooden ski race at Tjønna, wooden ski maker Thomas Aslaksby will set up a wooden ski maker workshop inside the café at Rindal Ski Museum.

Get to know ski maker Thomas Aslaksby and learn about the history of skis. For over 30 years, wooden ski maker Thomas Aslaksby has built on traditional wooden ski art, and developed skis for today's use, for powder skiing and skiing.

Thomas Aslaksby will take you on an exciting and educational journey in his lecture about skis and ski making, while he shows and explains, and you can also try your hand at being a ski maker.

Rindal Ski Museum has collaborated with Thomas through the project with Treskidager and Ski and Skimakerforeninga to spread knowledge and the joy of skiing to hundreds of children through wooden ski days. The Skimakerforeninga has made over 50 pairs of wooden skis for children and several wooden skis for adults for us at Rindal Ski Museum. Those of us who work at the ski museum have been able to join the workshop and try our hand at an axe and a plane. We have learned how to steam and fold skis, so that we can teach them to the children at the children's summer museum. Now is your chance to join the ski-making workshop. Would you like to help make a pair of skis from a blank with Thomas and the rest of us this day?

In the past, most people went on wooden skis. Many people think that this is old-fashioned - but Thomas does not agree - wooden skis are actually a completely unique way of getting around and can be adapted to the needs and wishes of the individual.

Mini-lectures and activities are included in the museum's regular admission ticket.

And skiing in loose snow on wooden skis is fun! On Sunday, adults have the opportunity to join Thomas on a wooden ski trip.
