After having performed the musical "GREASE" for nearly 35,000 people in the Norwegian cities of Kristiansand, Bergen, Trondheim and Stavanger in 2024-2025, the production company Musical Norway is once again hitting the big drum!
This time it is the iconic musical film "Saturday Night Fever" that will be staged on the largest Norwegian stages. The film starring John Travolta premiered in 1977, and was the precursor to Travolta's next big film role, which was Grease! The Norwegian stage version also has the same main role. Artist, musician and TV personality Atle Pettersen now goes from the role of college boy Danny in Grease to Disco dancer Tony in "Saturday Night Fever".
The film came in the middle of the big disco wave that swept the world! The film contains several of the most famous disco hits, primarily from the group Bee Gees. "Night Fever", "Staying alive", "You should be dancing", "Tragedy" and the smooth ballad "How deep is your love" are among the hit songs in the musical.
This time the audience is taken back to the vibrant nightlife of the 70s where 19-year-old Brooklyn boy Tony Manero works as a salesman in a paint store during the day and is the king of the dance floor at night. He prepares for the big dance competition but has trouble finding the right dance partner. Here we get to experience the iconic dance moves from the golden age of disco. But also Tony and his friends' struggle for identity, love, class differences and great ambitions.
The production has its Norwegian premiere in Kilden in Kristiansand in March 2026, and will continue to be played in Bergen, Trondheim and other major cities in the country from August of the same year.
Saturday Night Fever will be played at Olavshallen on September 4, 5, 6, 11, 12 and 13, 2026.
Tickets go on sale Tuesday, October 21 at 10:00 AM via www.musicalnorway.no
