MUSICAL CONFECTION OF THE HIGHEST CLASS! Senjahopen was conceived almost two decades ago, and after almost seven albums and countless concerts and not least thousands of stickers, it is a wonder that they are still neither a national treasure nor a well-oiled machine with predictable banter and rehearsed dance steps. This orchestra is not unlike a box of chocolates: You never know what you will get. But with a repertoire that ranges from warm, intimate and beautiful in "Drømmefanger", via the sing-along-friendly "Over Heia", to the northern Norwegian national anthem "En Hælvettes Gjeng", you know that you will always get chocolate, so to speak.

From the very beginning when they asked everyone to "Join Yttersia", Senjahopen have managed the feat of being both a kind of eternal outsider and a cornerstone of the northern Norwegian musical fauna. But that in no way means that you have to pass either a DNA test or a dialect test: Here there is both such good music and lively lyrics that even if you are descended from Terje Vigen, Pillar-Guri, Olav Tryggvasson or Sissel Kyrkjebø, there is no reason why you should not both recognize yourself and feel welcome. Because when the self-irony, the robber stories and the choruses are as loose as they are with this group, you almost have to be vaccinated against a good mood in order not to both get a foothold, pull a smile and maybe even shed a tear.

And speaking of tears: when "Onsdagsrenn", the first single from the upcoming album, was released, no one, regardless of gender, orientation or age, got through it without at least a tiny lump in their throat. But having said that, there is nothing to indicate that it is only ballads that are being floated. The musical philosophy of Senjahopen has always been that it is in no way a goal to invent gunpowder, the most important thing is to keep the gunpowder dry. And when they now set out on the road with both old favorites and brand new material, there is no doubt that there will be something for everyone.

In other words, the most beautiful adventure of the summer is a robbery story that lasts until just before Christmas, and if this four-horse team had been harnessed to a cart, it would have definitely become both an unclean trot and a gallop long before the first turn. But when they strap on their guitars and "clear" their voices, the odds that it will be an experience you will long remember are so good that you are unlikely to get paid more than you bet.
