Sgraffito is an artistic technique where a coating on a hard surface is scratched to reveal an underlying coating of contrasting color. It's commonly used in pottery, painting, and glass. The word “sgraffito” is Italian for “scratched”.
This is a weekend course for those who want to make larger objects such as plates and bowls. Here we focus on the surfaces! We'll be decorating for hours! Sgraffito is a time-intensive technique that lets you experience peace and focus. You scratch out a motif, piece by piece. It's mindfulness at its best!
Each participant gets 6 kg of clay at their disposal.
On Saturday, we make the objects to be decorated. We'll use the slab technique and raw fired pine to make larger bowls and platters. In addition, we go through an introduction to the scraping technique, where everyone gets a small sample plate for scraping.
Sunday is devoted entirely to the scraping process.
The courses are divided into teaching hours with the course leader on site and **course hours for independent work.
After the course, we dry the objects slowly, fire them and glaze them transpaernt. The objects can be collected after approximately 4 weeks.
* The student price applies to you who are a student up to the year you have turned 30. Student certificate is presented at the course or sent as a copy via email to post@franzklammer.no
