Experience the year's most vibrant 100-year-old in Nidaros Cathedral: The Gold Rush
It's not every day that you get the opportunity to experience a classic film in such a spectacular setting as Nidaros Cathedral. The iconic Chaplin film The Gold Rush is celebrating its 100th anniversary, and as part of the Kosmorama Trondheim International Film Festival, you can experience this unique screening that combines silent film with live music.

A unique setting:
Nidaros Cathedral forms the setting for this special event. With its high arches, detailed carvings and a majestic atmosphere, the cathedral is one of the most unique venues for film screenings. It's hard to imagine a better setting to experience a timeless film classic like The Gold Rush than in this historic and atmospheric building.
During the film screening, organist Ulrich Walther will improvise music on the cathedral's magnificent Steinmeyer organ. This powerful instrument, with its impressive sound palette, brings Chaplin’s iconic scenes to life and adds a new dimension to the film. The experience is both visual and auditory, and is sure to give audiences an evening they will never forget.

About the film:
Three days from anywhere. A Lone Prospector.
A hundred years after its premiere, Charlie Chaplin’s The Gold Rush still stands as one of his most critically acclaimed and beloved films. Chaplin plays the role of “The Lone Prospector,” or “The Little Wanderer” in Norwegian, who must fight through both challenges and human encounters in his search for wealth and prosperity in the American wilderness.

The film is known for its impressive practical effects, especially considering the time it was made. When it was re-released in 1943 with narration and music, it received Oscar nominations in two categories. With its unique humor and nerve, The Gold Rush is a film that continues to thrill audiences across generations.

The film is suitable for all ages, making it suitable for both young and adult film lovers.

Practical information about the event:
This is not the first time that Nidaros Cathedral has opened its doors for a silent film concert, but it is still a rare experience. The event will use the same large screen as last year, and the evening will offer a magnificent combination of film art and live music.

The doors to the cathedral will open at 5:30 PM, and the film will start at 6:00 PM. Although the organizers will do their best to keep it warm and cozy, it is recommended to dress warmly - Nidaros Cathedral is known for its cool temperature, especially in winter.

Don't miss this opportunity to experience Chaplin's masterpiece in a setting that truly elevates the movie experience to new heights!
