1 March, Riksscenen: Folk music for a new millenium
Skrekk & Guro is a new Norwegian folk rock band that consists of young musicians with one foot planted in Norwegian and Swedish folk music, and one in jazz, rock and improvisation.
They interpret fiddle music in an uncompromising manner, in addition to writing their own tunes. These tunes are inspired by folk music, rock, afrobeat and jazz, with lyrics that sometimes reference medieval ballads, other times more modern popular music.
Guro Kvifte Nesheim – song and Hardanger fiddle, Åsmund Løvland Solberg – song and guitar, Egil Kalman – bass, Knut Kvifte Nesheim – drums
Julie Alapnes is an up-and-coming star from northern Norway, who has travelled around the world with her fiddle and developed a distinctive tone and style. She is characterized as an energetic wind with heavy grooves on the one end and lyrical playfulness on the other.
Julie Alapnes – fiddle, Petter Carlsen - guitar, Halvard Rundberg - harmonium, guitar, Wetle Holte - drums
