Snøroser
In a time marked by turmoil and noise, the vocal ensemble Tabula Rasa seeks to find peace through its concert series *"Snøroser"*. Advent, a time of expectation and preparation, forms the backdrop for these performances, inviting the listener to reflect on life's contrasts—the fragile and the strong, silence and sound, the fleeting and the enduring.
The concert will feature various works from different periods. A key highlight is the world premiere of "Emergence" by Tord Kalvenes. This new piece references a passage from conductor Paul Hillier’s thoughts on the relationship between music and silence, drawn from his book on Arvo Pärt. The ensemble will explore how music emerges from, and returns to, silence. Audiences will be invited to pause and listen to both the notes and the silence between them.
Tabula Rasa is a professional vocal ensemble based in Bergen, dedicated to promoting new classical vocal music. The group incorporates improvisation and theatrical elements to create conceptual concerts and performances, having developed and contributed to various projects since 2017.
The ensemble consists of Sigrun Jørdre, Rikke Lina Sorell Matthiesen, Zsuzsa Zseni, Tord Kalvenes, Arild Rohde, and Jakub Niedziela.
