We welcome one of the most famous and beloved of string quartets, Francaix's playful quartet for English horn and strings, together with Offenbach's duo for celli.
Jacques Offenbach is perhaps best known for his operettas, including The Tales of Hoffman. He was also however a brilliant cellist – known at the time as the Paganini of the cello – and these progressive duets for two cellos were written at the request of his publishers, given his renown on the instrument. Finally we round off the season with Dvorak's wonderful "American" quartet.
