14 years after they last visited Norway together, St. Olaf Choir and St. Olaf Orchestra from Minnesota, USA, return for a series of joint concerts in ten Norwegian cities – including Oslo.
St. Olaf Choir will perform new music by contemporary composers like Ola Gjeilo and Kim André Arnesen, arrangements of American spirituals and choir works by masters such as Bach, Mendelssohn and Grieg. St. Olaf Orchestra presents an exciting programme, where highlights include Samuel Barber's "Overture to The School for Scandal", Tchaikovsky's "Symphony no. 5", John William's music from the Harry Potter films Edvard Grieg's "Norwegian Dances".
St. Olaf College was formed in 1874 by Norwegian immigrant farmers. The college nurtures a very special relationship with Norway, and the St. Olaf Choir went on its first tour in Norway in 1913, led by their Norwegian conductor F. Melius Christiansen.
