A complete work of art

Swan Lake is one of the most popular ballets and belongs to the international standard repertoire of classical ballet. After all, this ballet is a brilliant work by a brilliant composer; Tchaikovsky - and has always been an audience magnet.

The choreography of the original production was created by Julius Reisinger. The ballet was premiered by the Bolshoi Ballet on March 4, 1877 at the Bolshoi Theater in Moscow. Although presented in many different versions, most ballet companies base their staging both choreographically and musically on the 1895 version of Marius Petipa and Lev Ivanov, which was first staged for the Imperial Ballet on January 15, 1895 at the Mariinsky Theater in St. Petersburg. Petersburg.

The popular classical ballet tells the story of Odette, a princess who is transformed into a swan by the curse of an evil wizard. Odette has to live like a swan during the day, but at night she becomes a human again. This happens night after night, and dancing in its human form is seen by a prince, Siegfried. Siegfried falls in love with Odette and asks her to come to the castle ball the following evening. The wizard Von Rothbart finds out, and he takes his daughter Odile to the ball. Odile looks just like Odette, only she dresses in black while Odette dresses in white. Siegfried thinks Odile is Odette, and he swears his eternal love for her to break the curse. Odette shows up, and the prince realizes that he has made a mistake

Superb soloists and dancers, fantastic scenography and costume combined with a fantastic lighting design and fantastic music, recorded by a wonderful symphony orchestra. This is what the St. Petersburg Festival Ballet and Hungary Festival Orchestra offer ballet lovers all over the world.
