Staats- und Domchor Berlin dates back to the mid-1400s, is one of the most renowned boys' choirs in Europe and Berlin's oldest musical institution. The collection Sing-Akademie zu Berlin was believed to have been lost after World War II, but was recovered in Kiev in 1999. The collection contains several musical gems from famous composers such as G. P. Telemann and Rosenmüller, and the first part of the concert is a collaboration with the ensemble Lautten Compagney.
The second part of the concert features an a cappella repertoire written especially for the boys' choir around the middle of the 19th century by Otto Nicolai, Albert Becker and Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy, who also conducted this choir.
The concert is part of the 2018 Oslo International Church Music Festival.
