Strauss: Four Last Songs
The star soloist from La bohème is back!
Conductor: Massimo Zanetti
Soloist, soprano: Elsa Dreisig
Program
Richard Strauss: Gesang der Apollopriesterin
Richard Strauss: Vier letzte Lieder
Gustav Mahler: Symphony No. 4
Elsa Dreisig captivated audiences as Mimi in 2024, and now she and conductor Massimo Zanetti are back to move you to tears with Strauss's intense musical farewell.
The concert opens with the solemn "Gesang der Apollopriesterin", from Strauss's first orchestral songs. While "Vier letzte Lieder" is his emotionally charged swan song, a melancholic and almost otherworldly beautiful description of transitions; from winter to spring, from day to night, and finally from life to death.
We close with one of Mahler's most performed symphonies, "Symphony No. 4", which provides a glimpse into the world of a child. Here, Elsa's sparkling clear voice will showcase both the wonders of nature and the sparkling starry sky seen through the curious eyes of a child, and captivate us once again.
NB! We operate with several price zones. The prices stated belong to price zone 1. Click on “Tickets” for a complete overview.
