‘Powerful and powerful’ describes all of the evening’s works – here the audience will be torn and torn, and their ear canals will be driven. But, my God, what an experience you have in store!

We open the concert with Oliver Knussen’s sparkling and magnificent homage to Stravinsky, Flourish with Fireworks, before the well-regarded and internationally renowned French pianist, Jean-Efflam Bavouzet, launches into Ravel’s fantastic Piano Concerto for Left Hand – an incredible work, powerful and virtuosic, and written so brilliantly and refined that it is hard to believe that only one hand is playing!

Stravinsky’s The Rite of Spring was a huge scandal; his powerful and innovative music shocked Parisian audiences to their core with its irregular rhythmic energy and detached musical fragments. Even today, this is radical music, groundbreaking and inspiring – a turning point in musical history and insanely powerful art.

The concert is performed in collaboration with the Air Force Band.
