Sweet Spot is a seductive hellish gap filled with unruly play and charm, an endless gap that dances and tumbles back and forth between eras.
Resting in the abyss, Sweet Spot conjures up a distorted danse macabre, a hypnotic landscape where six ecstatic figures sing, collapse and syncopate around each other.
Driven by a “dromomanic” impulse; an uncontrollable urge to travel on and move forward, Sweet Spot throws itself into a constant whirlwind: a profusion of unruly rhythms, mythologies, groovy processions and sudden waves that devour the spectator and everything else in its path.
Harald Beharie's practice and choreography often arise in the span between the everyday and the extreme, the banal and the sacred, and he plays with transformation as a continuous principle, both for the body and for the spaces he moves in.
Throughout all this, there is a clear artistic and political project: a desire to challenge how we perceive reality. His works explore how queerness and the body can be a medium - a place of rebellion, ecstasy and dissolution
Sweet Spot concludes a trilogy that also includes the solo work Batty Bwoy (2022), which plays with fictions about the queer body, and Undersang (2024), which takes shape as a collective ritual in the forest.
Location: Hall 1
