Rossini’s famous and comical opera The Barber of Seville is back – full of schemes, caprice and catchy music.
At its centre is the young Rosina, whom Count Almaviva wishes to marry. But so does Rosina’s legal guardian, the old doctor Bartolo, who has locked her up. This is where the enterprising barber, Figaro, comes in.
In this colourful version of the opera, the story is told from Rosina’s point of view. Because young women often write about their experiences, stage director François de Carpentries and scenographer and costume designer Karine van Hercke have chosen to use the diary as a major element. Characters enter or exit the diary, which is as large as a modern apartment.
Performed in Italian, with texts in English and Norwegian.
