The Blues Express is a well-known blues, rock and soul band that covers a wide range within the aforementioned genres. With elements from jump blues, Texas blues, Chicago and delta blues, soul, rhythm 'n blues and rock n' roll, the band has a large and varied repertoire to play on. The band primarily writes and performs their own songs, as well as a very few cover songs. The Blues Express helped win 2nd place in the European Blues Challenge (EBC) in the Azores in 2019 and was nominated for the fiddler's prize for the album Southside in 2018. In September 2019 the band went to Austin, Texas to play
recorded a live record at the legendary club Antones Nightclub. 16 songs were fixed to tape, and the band released a CD "Live At Antones" consisting of 10 songs in December of the same year. The album garnered rave reviews both at home and abroad. Other highlights that should be highlighted are the Molde International Jazz Festival, in 2019 where the band played to a packed Alexandriaparken as well as the Bay-Car Blues Festival in Grande-Synthe in France in the autumn of the same year.
The band is now up to date with a new studio record which consists of 13 original songs written by Kai Fjellberg and Ronald Ottesen. 3 singles have been released previously. The songs "Roller Coaster Ride", "Night Out" and "Somebody Wake Up" were released in 2019 and 2021 respectively.
