Based on the life of Palestinian performer Ahmed Tobasi, award-winning author Hassan Abdirazzak has brought to life a young Palestinian man's quest for the true meaning of freedom. We are taken into a personal and political tale of occupation and resistance, fear and heroism, a life of independence and loyalty. In a time span spanning the first and second Palestinian intifadas, we follow the protagonist's transformation from armed resistance to performing arts, and his escape from the West Bank to Norway and then back again. Ahmed Tobasi gives an insight into what it is like to grow up in a Palestinian refugee camp, stand at the front of the brigade with a machine gun, hopeless love, and an encounter with Norway. A mix of humor and bloody seriousness.
