Åsa Elstad comes to Narvik library to talk about textile traditions linked to the northern Norwegian coastal culture, based on her recently published book Threads from the past. The book is about clothes, the work with clothes and its connection to women's history, and goes through over 1,000 years of textile tradition in the north. Clothing is a very exciting topic that tells a lot about who we are and the societies in which we live. About the book: "Textiles are linked to many aspects of Norwegian history, such as the division of labour, the gender divide, economic and social conditions and systems, resources, ethnicity and ideologies.
