On Sunday, December 7th at 2pm, the vocal group Viggja Voices will be hosting a concert in the chapel at Rotvoll artist collective, together with cellist Marit Aspås and percussionist Martin Smidt. We have called the concert Tilflukt. The repertoire revolves around various aspects associated with this word.

We want to give you a long-awaited resting place from pre-Christmas stress and high shoulders. The music we have selected contains security, community and belonging, but also the lack of such. Glimpses of a restlessness and restless search, which hopefully ends in a harmonious landscape. When you go home, we hope that the reverberations from the moods of the music are in your body.

What will you hear? There will be Norwegian and Swedish Christmas carols, arranged by, among others, Håvard Gravdal, Bjørn Andor Drage, Robert Sund and Margareta Jälkeus. A Palestinian folk tune with lyrics by Erik Hillestad (Joli kjem), arranged for choir by Ørjan Matre. A Ukrainian folk tune, known to many as Carol of the bells, in a stripped-down version by Kirby Shaw. Two beautiful compositions by Martin Smidt, from the cycle The Sound of Ringed Doves. The Oak by Becky McGlade, composed for mixed choir with cello — to a poem by the Victorian poet Alfred Lord Tennyson. A hint of Disney Christmas atmosphere from the movie Pinocchio. A trip through Tolkien's universe, through the song Misty Mountains where the guys get to shine in the deepest register. Last but not least, we will present a religious folk tune by Magnhild Gravdal from Hemne.
