Composer Maja Ratkje has received two awards in the past year; The Lindeman Prize 2021 for his compositional work and the Music Publisher's Prize for this year's work in the class classical/contemporary music for the trombone concerto Considering Icarus. The jury emphasized how in the concert she explores the trombone's possibilities with overtones and how the colorful orchestration together creates exciting sound palettes. The concert premiered on 14 October last year and was commissioned by the world's largest contemporary music festival, Donaueschinger Musiktage. The work was met with enthusiasm and prolonged applause and at the evening's concert it is time for the Norwegian premiere.
In Tristan & Isolde - An Orchestral passion, Vlieger has artfully put together seven detached episodes from the opera in a form of tone poem. This is pure musical drama for the ears - a Wagner without words!
