TrondheimFOLK celebrates 10 years — and you’re invited to the party!

To mark a decade as a concert organizer, TrondheimFOLK is thrilled to invite you to an all-out anniversary weekend, September 5–6. The celebration ends on a high note with Trondheim GammelGroove — an energetic tribute to the very best of Trøndelag’s dance music and cultural heritage.

On stage: the groovy and hard-hitting Over Stok og Steen, the charming fiddler Marit Vestrum, and a selection of local bands and community groups. For this special occasion, Dokkhuset will feature a freshly installed dance floor, live music that sets the room on fire, and — of course — an unbeatable atmosphere. Get ready for an unforgettable evening filled with dance music from both the southern and northern part of the region, a dance floor on fire and joy at the always welcoming Dokkhuset.
Welcome to Trondheim GammelGroove!

From sweeping manor waltzes to foot-stomping polkas and swinging pols — Over Stok og Steen delivers high-powered dance music and serious good vibes. For over 26 years, they’ve specialized in folk music from Hedemarken (the eastern flatlands by lake Mjøsa) and southern Trøndelag — regions with rich and varied musical traditions. With great respect for the heritage, they’ve developed their own bold sound. Their anniversary production TUR earned them the Folkelarm Award for Dance Music in 2022.

The band features:
Thomas Lomundal – fiddle
Thomas Nilssen – accordion, clarinet
Ronny Kjøsen – accordion, piano
Morten Brattås – guitar
Frode Slupphaug – bass

Marit Vestrum is a fiddler with contagious energy, hailing from Levanger in Trøndelag. She grew up with the Innherred tradition, but also plays tunes from Namdalen, Jämtland, and Västergötland, from the swedish side of the border. Inspired by archival recordings of tradition bearers, her style is marked by playfulness and drive — something she explored in depth through her project Arkivformidler Trøndelag. In November 2024 she released her solo album OVLA – Slåtter fra Levanger og Verdal, and we’ll get to hear several of those swinging tunes during the evening.

Throughout the night, local groups from Trondheim and nearby communities will join in with short dance sets — featuring groovy local tunes, infectious joy, and rock-solid dance rhythms.

Curios to learn the dances? Join the dance class at Rotvoll Kunstnerkollektiv earlier in the day.

The event is part of TrondheimFOLK’s 10th anniversary weekend.
Discounted tickets available when purchasing 3 or more (for the same event or for 3 different events).

Stay tuned to see who’s joining the floor!
