29 November, Nasjonal Jazzscene: A celebration and tribute to Norwegian poet Hans Børli
Hans Børli, Norwegian poet, writer and lumberjack would have turned 100 years old this December. His poems were both romantic and religios, critical and socially aware. He is most known for a poem that honors Louis Armstrong whilst at the same time offering biting criticism of the institutional racism within American culture that is often overlooked in Norway.
Norwegian jazz musician Andreas Ulvo has now set some of Børli's poems to music in honor of the jubilee. He is joined on stage by Sofie 'Fieh' Tollesbøl, Børli-veteran Pål Hausken and baroque harpist Giovanna Pessi.
