Overview

Did you know that Vikings sailed on Mjøsa? Or that Stone Age men hunted moose along the beaches? Mjøsa is Norway's largest source of drinking water – did you know that Mjøsa was so polluted in the 1970's that it was no longer possible to go swimming? Or that the smuggling of spirits on Mjøsa during the prohibition was just as large as that in Oslo? Mjøsa's ark is a journey through 8000 years, where you will find real Viking swords, real stone carvings and real environmental awareness.

Opening hours: Wednesday - Sunday 2 - 4 pm. The entrance is on the lake side. Guided tours start at 2 pm.
Closed Monday and Tuesday

We accept bookings from groups and bus tours all year round, and can adjust the tours to accommodate particular requests. The visit can also be combined with a visit to one of our other sites, such as the district governor's farm Stenberg with the original houses from around 1814 still intact.
