With playful interplay and energetic presence, Bliss Quintet has quickly established itself as a rising band in the Norwegian jazz scene. Dramatic and sentimental ballads, catchy fanfare-like horn riffs, complex rhythms and open harmonic landscapes are central themes for Bliss Quintet. All of this is well maintained and upheld in the band's sound with a focus on playful interaction, wild and energetic here-and-now, with elements of free improvisation in line with recognised Nordic bands such as Atomic and Masqualero.

On 6 March, Bliss Quintet released their fourth album, In Motion on Jazzland Recordings. Here the band is in tight interplay with a nuanced sound where new sounds such as synthesizers and flutes have emerged. They maintain their characteristic, driving expression and raw energy, but also dare to take the listener on collectively searching passages. Stillness, repetition and strong motifs get more space than on their previous releases. The sound of tight bonds is what defines Bliss Quintet.
