In addition to our regular conductor Ingrid Øien, Nidaros Brass Band has engaged a familiar face from “earlier times”, Karl Ole Midtbø as guest conductor for the spring’s main concert, Dances & Arias. He has been a leading musician, conductor and band advocate for nearly 50 years! In the latter part of the 80s, he was employed as the director and conductor of “Divisjonsmusikken” in Trondheim, and conductor of several bands in the region, including Ila Brass Band, which he led to victory in the Norwegian Championship in 1989. Karl Ole has been associated with the Norwegian Brass Band Association as music director and general secretary, and has been employed as cultural director in Os municipality, where he comes from and lives.
NBB has put together a varied program based on Karl Ole and Ingrid’s wishes. A wide range that embraces good memories and new discoveries, both originally written, arranged and adapted music by key composers. The main work Dances & Arias (Edward Gregson) was written for the British National Championships in 1984, and was used at the NM in 1985. A number of our own top soloists will contribute with virtuoso and beautiful performances.
We look forward to and warmly welcome you to Øysteinsalen.
