Elias Akselsen – A Concert to Remember
Once experienced, an Elias Akselsen concert is never forgotten.
As the great-grandson of Stor-Johan, known as the King of the Travellers, Elias Akselsen was born on the road and carries a rich Traveller heritage through music, song and traditional craftsmanship. This cultural legacy includes knife-making and the crafting of wooden whisks, while traditional Traveller songs and religious hymns were learnt around the campfire and passed down through generations.
During his youth, Akselsen also lived in Sweden, where he collaborated with artists including Cornelis Vreeswijk and Fred Åkerström. Today, Akselsen is an evangelist in the Pentecostal Church, and several of his albums have a religious focus.
With his distinctive voice and captivating stage presence, Elias Akselsen is a leading representative of Norway’s rich Romani musical and singing traditions. He has received numerous awards for his music, both as a solo artist and through collaborations with renowned musicians such as Stian Carstensen and Ola Kvernberg.
After several years without performing in Rogaland, Akselsen returns to Storstova for what will be his only performance in the region in 2026. A rare concert experience celebrating rich musical traditions, heartfelt performances and unforgettable songs.
Joining Akselsen as a special musical guest is artist and musician Ivan Storm Juliussen, his second cousin once removed. The evening will feature solo performances, including songs from Juliussen’s 2019 album The Music of My Life.
