Ila strykeband - LIVE AT ISAK - with Trond Wiger

Ila strykeband is an active family orchestra based in the Ila district of Trondheim. The band consists of approximately 20 performing children, young people and some adults – amateurs and professionals. The band is built around string instruments, but also has members on piano, oboe and percussion - and occasionally singers. The band has distinguished itself through active concert performances and extensive collaboration with both amateurs and professionals, within many different musical genres - folk music, pop, rock, classical, contemporary music, Sámi, Kven and Greek music. The ensemble creates enthusiasm with its infectious joy of playing, and has among other things performed several times at Barokkfest and Iladagene, as well as at a music festival in Pythagoria, Samos (Greece). Over the past two years we have had concerts with, among others, Rasmus Rohde, Victor Wilhelmsen, Oluf Dimitri Røe, Gresk kor and Ila blandamannskor.

This autumn a collaboration has been established with rap artist Trond Wiger, recently described as the very Trondheim poet in Adressa. The band looks forward to presenting the result of this collaboration in what will be a fine concert at the cultural centre ISAK.

Musical leaders for Ila strykeband are Øyvind Fjørtoft Engen on cello and Skogen Sällström on violin.
