Return now present a brand new concept. Alongside extensive touring with the full band, they also wish to offer a more stripped-down show designed for a seated audience. Knut Erik, Tore and Henning have created an unplugged performance where the band’s songs, moods and long history are presented in an acoustic format. The trio will naturally focus on all the hits, while also giving some of the lesser-known songs a fresh new feel.
The concept is well suited to small and medium-sized venues, as well as corporate events. A calm evening with a warm and intimate atmosphere – an experience not to be missed!
Short history
In 1980, four boys from Stange formed a band that in 1985 took the name Return and won NRK’s Rock Competition with the song “Sheila”. Two years later, they released their debut album “To the Top”, and the song “Sing Me a Song” spent 56 weeks on the Norwegian charts.
Throughout the 1980s and 1990s, Return released five studio albums, selling more than 800,000 copies in total. The album V reached number one on the UK import charts, went gold in Japan and received excellent reviews in music magazines worldwide. In 2020, the album was remastered and re-released in Germany by AOR Heaven.
In 2000, Best of Return was released and sold over 100,000 copies. During the 2000s, the band experienced a strong revival, releasing the album “Return” in 2005 and the CD/DVD “Best of… Both Worlds” in 2007, which went gold. The band continues to release new material regularly, confirming their position as one of Norway’s most popular bands.
Their 30th anniversary as recording artists was celebrated in autumn 2015 with a major concert, filmed and released on DVD. In recent years, the band has played around 25 concerts annually, appearing at events, festivals and venues across the country.
Return have recently released the singles “The Last Chorus Is Yet to Be Sung” and “Back for More”, both widely streamed on Spotify and other platforms. On Spotify, the band has around 110,000 monthly listeners and more than 300,000 streams. Last year, they received gold records in both Norway and Sweden for “Bye Bye Johnny” and “Sing Me a Song”. “Bye Bye Johnny” alone has surpassed 25 million streams on Spotify, with songs like “Sing Me a Song”, “To the Top” and “Change the Attitude” close behind.
While the core fan base has grown a little older, a third generation of Return fans is now making its presence felt at concerts. The band looks forward to another great year on the road, and a Return show will always feature both well-known and lesser-known songs, seasoned with a healthy dose of Hedmark humour. And of course – the hits come one after another!
