KVÅVNE

“The slått (traditional dance tune) goes unbroken. The dancing keeps going. Time melts together in a fleeting moment where you can lose yourself. Traditional slått and improvised poetry. Kvåvne play dance music that is both playful and dead serious.”

Kvåvne wants to make you forget who you are and let your body lift you into freedom.

In Kvåvne you hear slåtte creator and sound virtuoso Sivert Holmen in free expression with the playful drum fantast Hans Hulbækmo, multimusician and cult heroine Astrid Garmo (known to many from PUMPEGRIS) and the super bassist that every fiddle player dreams of playing with, Sondre Meisfjord.

Together, they have created music that ranges from timeless slåtter and carefree folk-music play to sweet waltzes and raw traditional fare.

«[Kvåvne] was born one night at the Jørn Hilme gathering last year. Surely someone was conceived there too, judging by the sinful and hot music on their self-titled debut album. I saw them in Gjøvik this winter, and we refused to leave the venue before they picked up their fiddles again for one last song. […] Four fantastic musicians, with interplay and wildness in the same gaze»
- Audun Vinger, Dagens Næringsliv – album review «Kvåvne»

For Ravelender, Kvåvne brings a super bass substitute; bassist and modular synthesist Egil Kalman.

Kvåvne - featuring:
Sivert Holmen – Fiddle
Astrid Garmo – Fiddle, langeleik (traditional stringed instrument), guitar
SUBSTITUTE for Sondre Meisfjord: Egil Kalman – Bass and modular synthesizer
Hans Hulbækmo – Percussion
