Weejuns release konsert // TYVEN

Hedvig Mollestad, described in the press as a national treasure and the first lady of the guitar in Norway, will release her latest album "Bitches Blues" on April 17, 2026, as always on the Rune Grammofon record label. This is the second album from Hedvig Mollestad Weejuns, her broad-spectrum trio with magician Ståle Storløkken on organ and synth, and the machine Ole Mofjell on drums, and it shows yet another side of the jazz guitarist's exploratory sound vision - and compositional strength. In contrast to the fierce "jazz Sabbath" hybrid Hedvig Mollestad Trio that released its critically acclaimed album in May 2025, "Bitches Blues" is perhaps the gentlest and most introverted expression of her career so far.

"Weejuns is first and foremost about interaction," explains Mollestad. “It ranges from riff-based instrumental rock-like things, loud chaos, but perhaps most of all this time, songs with nice melodies, long ballads with time signature changes and chord patterns, and also some completely free improvisations.” “Even though I am the one who made the songs, it is we together who arrange and make it sound the way it does. Bitches Blues is nothing more or less than a piece of solid music, made by me and us, where we try our very, very best to make it sound as good as possible,” Mollestad concludes.

“ Our previous album was a double live album, characterized by the nerve of a concert hall, and the explosiveness of the handover from stage to hall. This time the music is recorded in the studio, where we are more able to control dynamics and concentration on other parameters. So even though the new album Bitches Blues contains riff-based instrumental rock-like stuff, bordering on loud chaos, the sister part of the music on the album still touches on something ballad-associated. Time signature changes, modulations and solos over chord patterns - a softer expression with clearer melodic and harmonic structures. We will present this material as best we can live, but must admit that we quickly turn into 10 wild horses when we stand on stage, so the excitement will be great this evening!
