On Friday, April 24th at 6 pm, we invite you to a panel debate and opening of the exhibition Anatomy of Defence by KI-born artist David Kim, as well as a screening of the Planetarium film Local Dystopias in the Global Utopia by Sergey Prokofyev.
What happens to art when AI becomes an artist?
ViT invites you to a debate based on David Kim's experimental, artistic AI practice, where his first solo exhibition shows the development of anatomical armor implants from concept to physical sculpture.
What happens to art after artificial intelligence? How has it changed? Or been made? How will it change as AI develops? How—and who—will perceive art made by AI? Or any art, even traditional crafts, when our vision has been shaped by AI and its tools? What about authenticity? Originality? Crafts and techniques that artists have spent years mastering? Who is the author behind AI-generated images? Or AI-co-created works? Can machines share authorship with humans? Is the artist of the future a prompt engineer?
Zane Cerpina and Ståle Stenslie, KI curators
The panel consists of:
- Zane Cerpina, curator of Meta.Morf, PhD fellow, NTNU Morten Breivik, Associate Professor, Department of Technical Cybernetics, NTNU
- Viggo Tellefsen Wivestad, researcher, SINTEF Digital
- Tor Thorsrud Sporsem, researcher SINTEF and PhD fellow, NTNU
The conversation is led by Åshild Adsen, director of the Science Center in Trondheim.
After the conversation, we invite you to continue the discussion in the exhibition, and an opportunity to watch the award-winning film Local Dystopias in the Global Utopia.
About the film: In a vast desert, a unique cinematic experience comes to life on dome-shaped screens, each with a dystopian architectural story. Explore “High Rise Cult,” where fragile skyscrapers float on balloons; “The Doomed City,” inspired by Nicholas Roerich; and “Phygital Limbo,” a digital world driven by human emotions. This award-winning film blurs the lines between architectural fantasy and reality.
