This is the third church on this site.
First there was a stave church, this was demolished. In 1725, a wooden church was built, which burned down in 1875.
Some furnishings from the former churches have been preserved, including the baptismal font, baptismal dish, chandelier and a votive vessel. The baptismal font is of Romanesque type in soapstone and is shaped like a chalice. The Votivskipet is a frigate with the words "17 Kløcker 99" written on the stern. The pulpit is made of wood and has four sections. It is from 1879.
