In Oppdal, there are many large mountain lakes ideal for canoeing and kayaking. One of the most beautiful lakes is Gjevilvatnet, where Oppdal Safari has stationed canoes and kayaks for rent.
Gjevilvatnet is located in a scenic mountain valley in Trollheimen, with Osen as the starting point. From here, you can paddle towards the chalk-white beach Rauøra, a natural gem surrounded by the majestic mountain views. It's a perfect spot for a pleasant break.
The boats available for rent are stable and easy to paddle, making them suitable for family trips, fishing excursions, and other outings. The canoes accommodate up to 2 people, while the kayaks are single-person. Safety is a priority when paddling on the water, so life jackets are included in the rental and must be picked up from Oppdal Safari's office in Oppdal Centrum before heading to Gjevilvatnet.
Conditions and Safety: When renting a canoe, you are responsible for the equipment and your own safety. It is expected that the equipment is returned in the same condition as when picked up, and that the renter has the necessary skills to use the equipment properly.
Clothing and Gear: Dress according to the weather. Never wear boots in a kayak; hiking boots or sneakers are recommended. Remember that a beautiful summer day can quickly change in the mountains.
