Grønningen is one of the most beautiful gateways to the Blåfjella–Skjækerfjella National Park – and the best way to experience it is from the water. Snåsa Mountain Board offers two canoes for hire at idyllic Grønningen, perfect for those who want to enjoy the tranquillity, nature, and raw wilderness at their own pace.
The canoes are ready and waiting by the Mountain Board’s boathouse, just next to the car park. Life jackets and paddles are included and safely stored in boathouse no. 1 – access details and the code will be provided in your booking confirmation.
Grønningen offers great paddling opportunities and several scenic spots for wild camping along the lake. If you're after a little adventure, you can combine paddling with short portages for a round trip:
– Paddle across Grønningen and continue to Skjeldbreien
– Hike to Rørtjønna and Langvatnet
– Complete the loop back to Grønningen
You can also paddle to the lakes Skjeldbreien and Holderen – but do keep in mind that weather conditions can change quickly, and the shallow mountain lakes can become challenging in windy conditions.
✔️ Changeover time: 09:00
✔️ After use: Turn the canoe upside down, and return paddles and life jackets to the boathouse. Hang life jackets up to dry.
✔️ Report any damage or issues with the equipment to the Mountain Board.
✔️ Canoe hire is non-refundable.
The equipment is stored in a boathouse with a coded lock. You’ll receive the code and practical details in the confirmation email after booking via inatur.no (canoe 1) and inatur.no (canoe 2)
Fishing permits for the public lands (Statsallmenningene) in Snåsa can also be purchased here.
