Welcome to Hemsedal for cross country skiing. In Hemsedal we have 250 km cross country trails, have a long cross-country season and starts the season in November-December.

250 km of ski trails in the Scandinavian Alps

Hemsedal offers a huge variety of cross-country skiing with a total of 250 km of groomed trails:

  • 140 km machine-groomed trails in the valley and forest, 60 km with skating lanes.
  • 100 km high mountain trails, marked and groomed when conditions allow – from week 7, daily during winter holidays and Easter, and on weekends.

You can enjoy skiing here from November until late April – classic or skating, in both forest and high mountain terrain.

Gravset Ski Arena

Gravset is the main starting point for cross-country skiing in Hemsedal:

  • Large parking area (parking fee)
  • Café and warm hut (open on weekends and holidays)
  • Toilets
  • Loops of different lengths and difficulties
  • Lighted trails until 22:00
  • Ski play area for kids
  • Snowmaking ensures an early start to the season from November

Skiing from the village and ski centre

At Totteskogen ski & roller ski arena you’ll find two lighted loops (4.5 km in total).
From SkiStar Lodge you can ski directly into the trail network towards Tuv and Ulsåk.
A lighted walking path connects Hemsedal centre with the ski resort.

Lighted ski tracks

  • Gravset: 1 km, 2 km, 3 km, 5.5 km – until 22:00
  • Totteskogen: total 4.5 km – until 22:00/23:00
  • From Moaveien (by the ski centre) to Tuv – along a lighted path

High mountain skiing and Easter trails

In spring and Easter you’ll also find freshly groomed trails in the mountains:

  • Eldrevatn: Start for tours to Sulebu, Høgeloft, Øljusjøen and Bjordalsbu. Groomed Easter trail follows the marked DNT route.
  • Holdeskaret: Groomed up to the gate, then untouched mountain terrain.

  • Flævasshytta – by Beihovdløypa in Holdeskaret
  • Gravsetstugu – café Wednesday–Sunday, warm hut & toilets daily

Cross-country bus to Bjøberg

Every Saturday from mid-February to mid-April, Vy runs a cross-country bus from Hemsedal centre to Bjøberg (weather and snow conditions permitting).
