Spend a memorable day as a musher before the snow arrives.

This tour is operated by Northern Light Dog Adventure.

Join a North Norwegian family and be actively involved throughout the experience, from the briefing around the kitchen table to looking after your own dog team and helping to feed them.

We start with a scenic drive from downtown Tromsø to our house and dog yard, set among high and spectacular mountains. Harness your dog team and head out on an exciting dog sledding on wheels adventure through challenging terrain surrounded by dramatic Arctic scenery. The actual dog sledding on wheels lasts approximately 1–2 hours, depending on conditions.

We only offer this quality experience to small groups because we want you to get the most out of this beautiful adventure. Participants must be in good physical shape and willing to be actively involved throughout the tour. We provide all necessary gear, instruction, hospitality and a coffee break. Two people share each cart, and you will have the opportunity to switch between being the musher (driver) and passenger. The guide will gladly take photos of you with your dog team as a memory of your Arctic adventure.

“Dogsledding on Wheels” is available between 1 August and 30 November. If enough snow arrives, we will switch to sleds at no extra charge.

The trail is uneven and bumpy, and dog sledding requires a certain level of physical fitness. Participants need to be able to balance, maintain a good grip on the handlebar and assist the dogs by jogging or scooting uphill when needed.

The tour is not suitable during pregnancy, and we do not recommend it for children under 12 years old.

There is limited space for bags and camera equipment on the cart itself, but personal belongings can be left safely at the base. Items brought on the cart are carried at your own risk.

Please note that we have cats at our base. Guests with cat allergies should take necessary precautions before visiting.

Guests staying nearby or travelling by rental car are welcome to drive directly to the base. Please inform the operator at least 24 hours in advance so the correct address can be provided. The tour price is the same with or without transport.
